Graham Morin Memorial Scholarship Committee announces the 2009 recipients.
The Washington State Wrestling Coaches Association and the family of Graham Morin are very pleased to announce the winners of this year’s Graham Baker Morin Memorial Scholarship Awards. Friends, family, and coaches established this annual scholarship in order to provide assistance to the wrestlers that excel in the classroom, as leaders, and on the mat. Both of our winner’s demonstrated outstanding academics while juggling very active high school schedules which include athletics, community service, and other extracurricular activities.
This years winners are:
Stefan St. Marie
Stefan is a senior at Snohomish HS and plans on attending Boise St. University next year. His list of accomplishments include being a 2009 undefeated WIAA state champion, Sierra Nevada Classic champ, team captain, club president/founder "One Voice" and "Oasis".
Jacob Lauderdale
Jacob is a senior at Lakeside HS in Nine Mile Falls and will attend Oregon State University. He is a three time WIAA state champion, Tri-State champ. 3.5 GPA, USA wrestling All-American, team captain.
Please join the wrestling community in congratulating these winners and their parents. We are proud of their accomplishments and look forward to hearing about their future successes. The Scholarship Committee wants to convey the difficulty of arriving at this final decision given the number of worthy applicants. The competition was particularly close and we proud of all the all applicants for their accomplishments. Graham Morin has inspired many young wrestlers to greatness and in his memory this scholarship will continue to do the same.
