Levi Jones of Lakeside HS Receives the 2006 Graham Baker Morin Memorial Scholarship
The family of Graham Morin and the Washington State Wrestling Coaches Association recently announced that Levi Jones of Lakeside High School (Nine Mile Falls) as this year's recipient of the Graham Baker Morin Memorial Scholarship Award. The scholarship, awarded annually to a graduating senior from the State of Washington, is based upon strong academic performance in school, leadership traits, and wrestling talent. Jones, who will receive $3,000 as the winner of the fifth scholarship awarded, will be attending Boise State in the fall. The family and the scholarship board recognize Levi as a true representative of the qualities valued by the scholarship. The Morin’s describe him as “a true sportsman and competitor that has great ability on the mat and in guiding others.”
Levi is involved with school and community leadership, the Ignite mentorship program, Captain of his wrestling team, as well as excelling in the classroom. Levi is a decorated wrestler, placing all four years at the State tournament, winning a State title in 2006 and has reached All-American status at National level tournaments.
Graham Baker Morin affected a lot of people in our community and across the state. In his memory, this scholarship will continue to do the same. The scholarship continues to grow both in support and competitiveness. The WSWCA and the family of Graham wish to thank the contributors and supporters for their generosity. The scholarship continues to provide motivation for young athletes to excel as leaders, in the classroom, and on mat. With continued community support the scholarship will help the sport of wrestling and the future education of Washington wrestlers.
