Bradley Muri of Steilacoom, Washington, Receives the 2005 Graham Baker Morin Memorial Scholarship
The Washington State Wrestling Coaches Association and the family of Graham Morin recently announced that Bradley Muri of Steilacoom as been named this year's recipient of the Graham Baker Morin Memorial Scholarship Award. The scholarship, awarded annually to a graduating senior from the State of Washington, is based upon strong academic performance in school, leadership qualities, and wrestling talent. Muri, who will receive $3,000 as the winner of the fourth scholarship awarded, will be attending Boise State in the fall. The family of the Graham Morin feels that Brad has shown all of these qualities and represents the goals of the scholarship extremely well.
Brad has served as a Young Life Leader, President of the Drug Prevention Team, Captain of his wrestling team at Steilacoom High School as well achieving a 3.58 cumulative G.P.A. On top of all that, he is also serves as a volunteer firefighter in his community. Bradley is a decorated wrestler winning multiple State titles and has reached All-American status at National level tournaments. The scholarship committee would also like to recognize the other top candidates; Kyle Bounds of Columbia River High School and Michael Sewell of Inglemoor High School.
“Graham Baker Morin affected a lot of people and in his memory, this scholarship will continue to do the same," said Brian Smith, President of WSWCA. The scholarship was created from funds from generous people starting at Graham Morin’s memorial service and continues with both local and state support. Phred, Laurie and the family of Graham have worked hard to support the sport of wrestling and the future education of Washington wrestlers.
