We met to leave Inatori at 6:30 am. There was a close bond between many of the wrestlers and their host families. This could probably be attributed to the single wrestler with a family as well as the three nights they spent together. The bus ride took about two hours to the north to Kanagawa Prefecture and Nihon University Fujisawa High School, a college pre high school of about 2000 students. We arrived around 10 am, and ate lunch then had a match at 1:00 pm.

The boys wrestled very well tonight as we won 7 and lost 3, defeating the Kanagawa Prefecture team
27-14.

Karlson Miller (Oak Harbor), wrestling in his final high school match, pinned his opponent in the
second period. (We have a photo of him leaving his shoes on the mat in  "retirement"

Rob Nagel (Arlington) was finishing a beautiful single leg when his opponent posted his arm and
dislocated his elbow. Injury default.

Matt Johnson (Auburn) looked good in a 4-3, 6-0 win. Really put the match away in the second
period.

Zack Brissey (Ephrata) was solid in his match winning 7-1, 4-3.

Zach Byers (Arlington) ran into a very tough opponent, losing 0-7, 2-5.

After a quick intermission for a karate demonstration (the guy broke two baseball bats together):

Ryan Burgess (Lakeside) lost 0-6, 0-6 to a much heavier stud wrestler.

Keith Schlecht (Emerald Ridge) dominated his match (a much heavier wrestler as well), winning 3-0,
6-0.

In the marquee matchup of the night, 2A state champ Jon Millard (Lakeside) went up against the #3
wrestler in the nation at the weight class above his. Millard lost the first period 6-5, despite
outworking his opponent, who caught Jon out of position twice for three. Jon won the second period
with an awesome throw. The third period went to the Japanese wrestler 2-0.

Evan White (Southridge) won a good match 6-3, 5-0.

Cody Bradshaw finished the dual with a 5-0, 3-1 win, for his fourth victory in Japan.

After the match the Japanese threw a barbecue for us with hot dogs, brats, yakisoba and a lot of other food. Later that night we held an impromptu practice until midnight with the assistant coach at Fujisawa. They have huge spiders over here...
