Darrel White has spent the past 38 years as a wrestling coach in Washington, Alaska and California. In Alaska White coached at Mt. Edgecumbe, Chugiak and Homer High Schools. During his eighteen years in Washington, White coached at Warden, Zillah and Clover Park. His team won ten league titles and finished in the top-eight in state eighteen times, including four state titles and four runner-up finishes. the 2000 Zillah team set a Mat Classic scoring record with 226.5 points and twelve state placers. His career record as a head coach was 327-118-6 and he coached 122 state placers including 28 state champions.

White has served in many roles in the sport of wrestling, including president of both the Washington (1999-2001) and Alaska (1976-1980) Wrestling Coaches Associations. He was named the 1978 Alaska Wrestling Coach of the Year; the 1993 Washington Wrestling Coach of the Year for the A/B classification, and in 1998 was honored as the Washington State Wrestling Coach of the Year. Darrel was the director of the WSWCA Hall of Fame for five years and was inducted into the Alaska Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1988.

His teams hosted three Cultural Exchange Teams and Darrel led the 1998 team to Japan. In 2000 he was named the NFHS Northwest Section Wrestling Coach of the Year. Darrel also coached football and track for over 25 years and served as a wrestling official for over 30 years.

Darrel has been married to his wife Linda for 38 years and they now reside in Brownsville, Oregon. They have three children; Glen, a head coach in California; Chance, an assistant wrestling coach, and a daughter Glee. Darrel has retired from teaching and served as a volunteer assistant coach at Ripon High School with his son Glen for two years.
