Tom Sewell was a consummate advocate for
wrestling in the Northshore SD for 30 years as the coach at Inglemoor and Northshore Junior High. His Inglemoor teams compiled a dual-meet record of
262-51-1 and finished in the top ten at state twice. The Vikings won the Kingco Championships 14 times along with a regional title. Sewell coached 36 state placers and five state champions, including his son Mike who was a three-time champ. Both of his sons went on to wrestle at the Division I level; Paul at
Columbia University and Mike at University of Virginia.
In 2005 Sewell was named the WSWCA 4A Wrestling Coach of the Year along with the Region II Coach of the Year. He officiated high school and junior high matches and offered a wrestling camp for beginners for over 20 years. Sewell started the Northshore Mat Kids Wrestling Club in the mid-80’s.
Tom continues to teach History at Inglemoor and is married to Connie.
