| Jim
Meyerhoff began his coaching career in 1970 at Ballou Junior High
School as head coach then moved to Franklin Pierce High School in
1973 as head wrestling coach where he developed a power in Region
II and the state. In twelve years he produced a 107-65-2 record
and his teams finished runner-up at "AA" state in 1981,
1982 and 1983, as well as 5th in 1984. Franklin Pierce took the
Region II crown each of those four years. He produced 26 individual
state place winners including five state champions. In 1985 Jim
took the reins of the PLU Wrestling program and in three short years
produced four national NAIA place finishers (All-American) and hosted
the NAIA tournament in 1988.
He has been
honored as the 1982 AA "Coach of the Year" and the 1982
State "Wrestling Coach of the Year." In 1984, he was named
Wrestling USA "National Man of the Year" and received
the NAIA District 1-2 "Coach of the Year" in 1986. Meyerhoff

Fame where he was a four-time wrestling letter winner from 1967-1970
and a two-time national tournament competitor. He was inducted into
the Washington State Athletic Administrators Hall of Fame in 2000.
Jim's leadership
contributions to wrestling are extensive. No individual has done
more for wrestling than he as is shown by the positions he has held:
President Washington State Coaches Association, 1981-1987; Washington
State Cultural Exchange Chairman, 1978-1989; President Western Washington
Wrestling Officials Association, Co-Director of Mat Classic, the
Washington State Wrestling Championships; numerous AAU and USA Wrestling
state and national offices and committees.
Jim has since
moved from coaching to Athletic Administration, first at Franklin
Pierce High School and the White River School District. He served
as Co-Director of the Mat Classic tournament for eleven years before
assuming the position of Assistant Executive Director of the Washington
Interscholastic Activities Association.
Jim Meyerhoff
was nominated by Pat Alexander, Hall of Fame member from Tumwater
High School and he was inducted by his son, Jim Meyerhoff, coach
