| Sam
Indorf was born in St. Francis, Kansas in 1942. He attended Boulder
High School in Boulder, Colorado graduating in 1960. Sam then attended
Eastern Washington University in Cheney. He was the coach at Cheney
High School for 25 years and during that time he compiled a dual
meet record of 232-116-2. Sam coached his teams to 13 league and
five regional championships plus six top-four state finishes including
a "AA" state title in 1989.
Sam was the
1984 WSWCA "AA" Coach of the Year and also received the
NFICA Outstanding Coach for the state of Washington. In 1972 he
was named to the "Outstanding Young Men of America."
Sam served as
the vice-president of the WSWCA, was cultural exchange team leader
in 1977, 1980 and 1982, was the Executive Board WIAA Winter Sports
Committee Chairman and the Director of the State "AA"
Wrestling Tournament held in Cheney for eight years.
After retiring
from Cheney High School in 1992 Sam and his wife Judy are now owners
of Mail Boxes, etc. in Kennewick. They have two children, Julie
and Perta.
Sam was nominated
by former assistant Jim McConnell, principal at Lakeside High School
and was inducted by former assistant Rich Rust. |
