Larry Gibson
Inducted in 1995

Omak High School 1976-1992
Omak Middle School 1984-1990, 1991-1992

Larry Gibson attended Wilson High school in Portland and went to George Fox College where he graduated in 1970. He also holds a bachelors degree from Central Washington University. In college, Larry lettered in wrestling for four years, football for three and track for two years.

Larry coached at Omak High School from 1976-1992 with a record of 173-70-1. He also coached at Omak Middle School from 1984-1990 and from 1991-92 with a record of 80 wins and 1 loss including eight district championships.

Larry's record of achievement includes Regional Coach of the Year in 1989 and 1990, Washington "A/B" Coach of the Year in 1991 and NCW Sportsman of the Year. His service to wrestling includes membership on the Washington Coaches Association Executive Board to 1988 to 1995, membership on the WSWCA Executive Board from 1991 to 1995 and Open/Espoir Director for the Washington Wrestling Association/USA Wrestling since 1990. Larry has served as the Cultural Exchange Co-Director and has himself taken Washington state cultural exchange teams to Hungary, Japan and Russia.

In addition Coach Gibson served as District 6 Wrestling Committee Representative for fourteen years and chairman for another six. He has established and directed two freestyle clubs and was Team Leader/Coach for the National Tournament Washington Open Team. Larry was coach for the Dominican Republic Senior team in 1989, holds a gold level coaches certificate from USA Wrestling, was Tour de Monde coach to Germany, France and Mongolia/China in 1990, 91 and 93. Larry has been a FILA Gold Level clinician and has served as USA National Wrestling Camp Assistant Director. He was Co-director of the Alaska National Training Camp in 1995.

Larry Gibson was inducted by Shad James.
